Dr Vicki Schutte

My name is Dr Vicki Schutte.

I am a female GP and have been practising in the Fourways area for over 20 years. I have a family, love my pets and have experienced the ups and downs of life like anybody else. I’ve always been someone who wanted to help others and, even as a child, knew that one day I would become that person, a doctor.

On completing school, I was accepted at Stellenbosch University where I studied medicine. Completing my MBChB degree in 1994, I moved up to Johannesburg to start my journey.

As a young doctor I was soon thrown into the world of reality as I attended my internship at Leratong and Paardekraal Hospitals in Krugersdorp. After that, I was practising as a Medical Officer in Casualty, Surgery and Obstetrics.

In 1997 I joined a Private Practice in Fourways and here I developed my propensity for compassion. I learned invaluable lessons from my senior colleagues and after becoming a partner in 1998, learned all around running a general dispensing practice. I later worked at Intercare Fourways, a memorable time in my career and one that I was grateful for. As my experience grew I felt I needed to spread my wings and start my own practice, and did this in 2010.

What a wonderful journey it has been.

My weeks have been filled with variety. I have assisted a surgeon in theatre for almost 15 years, keeping me up to date with all the latest developments in the surgical world.

I attended a course in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to study the HCG Protocol in weight loss, and am one of two Doctors in South Africa that were formally trained by the very knowledgeable Dr Daniel Bulluscio. This qualification has stood me in good stead as we offer this treatment in my practice. Here we focus on challenging patients with diseases like obesity, Insulin Resistance, PCOS, Hypertension, thyroid problems and Type 2 Diabetes.

A nearby retirement village gives me utmost joy in attending to the elderly, a grateful smile at times feels like payment enough! Adding to this I am proud to say that my practice is 100% wheelchair friendly.

I have always believed that a holistic approach is the far better option and this is how I treat my patients.

The physical needs to be combined with the mental and my interest in functional medicine has helped me to do this.

My staff family is one that I simply could not be without, we have faced the challenges of business, personal trauma and recently the Covid Pandemic. The trust we have in each other is the driving force behind our successful practice.

Today I like to believe that I am an experienced doctor, who tries to spend a bit more time getting to know my patients.

I treat people with respect and compassion and this, I believe, assists more with the healing process than the simple prescribing of pharmaceutical aids.
